Day 1 -7 Backhands

Lots of people ask me how can I improve my double handed backhand.

When I was younger I was taught a single handed backhand but As the years went by I wanted to change to a double handed.

Here’s my first tip

Step 1. Shoulder Turn

( Look at my photo below ) I took this photo Wimbledon this year.

It’s very important to have your shoulders turned and be side ways. You can see Berdych is facing side ways and he has turned his shoulders / Racket. His arms are stretched with his racket at shoulder height. Next time you play give my tip a try .

Day 2 – Forehand Tip

( Wrist Position )

Try this simple tip.

I Have been Coaching 12 Years now and I have watched a lot of players of all levels and one of the most common mistakes for a lot of players is the wrist. If it’s in the wrong position you can end up slapping the ball or hitting the frame. It’s really important to relax the wrist. A goal for my players is to hit a nice controlled shot before they start to introduce power. After you turn your shoulders your racket should be away from your body. The butt of your racket should be facing forwards as you swing forward.

It is called a Unit Turn as the Body and Racket Turn at the same time. To start off with you need to get the Racket back by turning your whole body. We need to be Side ways Before we strike the ball. Push your dominant arm and non dominant arm out as you turn.

Get on court and practice

Monday Motivation

Motivation for All Players out there

Without your desire and determination to improve your sports performances, all of the other mental factors, confidence, intensity, focus, and emotions, are meaningless. To become the best athlete you can be, you must be motivated to do what it takes to maximize your ability and achieve your goals.

The reason motivation is so important is that it is the only contributor to sports performance over which you have control. My There are three things that affect how well you perform.

First, your ability, which includes your physical, technical, tactical, and mental capabilities.

Thursday Coaching Tip

Tip = The Ball Toss on your Serve

Do you get frustrated when your ball goes pear shape when you throw it up ? The ball toss for me is the most important key on the serve. If the ball is high and in front of your body then it will be effective. Holding your ball arm up longer will also help with your balance. Practice drill Put a cone or a racket in front of your front foot. Slowly throw the ball in front of you and see if you can hit the target. This is a great way to see where the ball is When you serve. Go give it a go and have fun🎾😁Here is a photo I took of Roger Federer Serving
